Overview
TabShare provides a lightweight browser extension and web interface that helps you share a set of open tabs as a single link. We design the product to minimize data collection and to give you control over what you share.
What data we collect
Data collected when you share
When you explicitly create a share from the extension, the URLs and limited metadata (title, favicon, order) for the selected tabs are transmitted to our service to generate the shareable session. We do not collect your complete browsing history unless you intentionally include it in a share action.
Local data (browser-only)
The extension may store small amounts of data locally using browser storage (localStorage or extension storage) to save recent shares, user preferences, and UI state. This data stays in your browser unless you choose to share it.
Analytics and crash reporting
We use aggregated analytics and optional crash reporting to improve reliability and measure feature usage. Analytics are anonymized and do not include full URLs or personal identifiers. You can opt out of analytics in the extension settings.
How we use data
- To create and serve the shared session when you request it.
- To maintain service availability, monitor performance, and detect abuse.
- To improve product features through aggregated, anonymized analytics.
Temporary links and retention
By default, temporary share links expire after 7 days. We retain related operational logs (IP addresses, request timestamps) for up to 30 days for security and debugging. If required for legal compliance, specific records may be retained longer.
Sharing and disclosure
We do not sell personal data. We may disclose data to service providers who help operate the service (CDNs, hosting, analytics) under contract. We may also disclose data to comply with legal obligations or to protect rights, safety, or property.
Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information. Examples include HTTPS/TLS for data in transit, access controls, and regular vulnerability reviews. No system is completely secure; if we learn of a breach, we will follow applicable notification requirements.
Your choices
- Delete a shared session: If you control a shared session, you can remove or invalidate the link from the extension or via the link management UI when available.
- Opt out of analytics: Disable analytics in the extension settings to limit anonymous telemetry.
- Browser controls: Use your browser's storage and cookie controls to delete local data.
International transfers
Data processed by TabShare may be transferred to and stored in countries outside your residence. We implement safeguards required by applicable law when transferring personal data internationally.
Children
TabShare is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe we have collected such information, contact us to request deletion.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect product changes. We will post the revised policy with an updated effective date.
